We’ve released Cloud Beacon Firmware Update v. 1.2 that resolves the problem of being unable to recharge a beacon when its battery drains. Your Cloud Beacon will automatically update to v 1.1 over the air if it is connected to the Internet. From now on, when the battery level drops too low and needs to be recharged, and you don’t plug your beacon in, it will enter into suspend mode and stop broadcasting. Suspend mode indicates that the beacon has shut down to save on battery consumption in order to prevent the device from entering an unchargeable state. You will have 2 - 4 weeks to recharge your Cloud Beacon after it enters suspend mode .
If your beacon is updated to firmware v 1.1, it will automatically update to firmware v 1.2 as long as it is connected to the Internet. The update will take place over the next 36 hours.
To sum up, here’s the final info: your Cloud Beacon will be updated automatically but it needs firmware v 1.1 first. Please make sure that you have v 1.1 installed. If you haven’t, please follow the instructions here. Remember to keep your beacon charged and connected wirelessly to the router.
The whole process is described here.
